Emmy-nominated actress Bonnie Hunt delayed her dream of writing in Hollywood when her father insisted that she attend nursing school. When he died of a heart attack while she was studying, she found comfort in a patient talk about a wonderful friend who had just passed, not realizing that the man being talked about was her father.
She worked for five years as an oncology nurse while working overtime with the Second City Improvement Troupe. Eventually, she moved to California, where she starred in various TV shows and movies, including Cheaper by the Dozen.
