Taco Bell is a US-based fast food restaurant chain that originated in 1962, in Irvine, California, by founder Glenn Bell. Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc. The restaurants offer a variety of Mexican-inspired foods, which include: tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, innovative, and specialty items, together with a variety of “value menu” items. As at 2018, Taco Bell served more than 2 billion customers every year, in 7,072 restaurants, more than 93 percent of which are operated and owned by franchisees and independent licensees.
PepsiCo bought Taco Bell in 1978, then split from the restaurant division as Tricon Global Restaurants, which later changed its name to Yum! Trademarks.
